
Wilaya of Smara, February 25, 2025 (SPS) - Czech runner Michel Pozdnocov won first place in the main race of the 25th Sahara Marathon, covering a distance of 42 kilometers that started from the the wilaya of El Aaiun and ended in the wilaya of Smara.
After his victory, the Czech runner stated in a press interview that "this is my first time participating in this international sports event held in the Sahrawi refugee camps." He expressed his admiration for the well-organized event and the warm hospitality he received from Sahrawi families.
He added that he is "happy with this result" and committed to raising awareness about the Sahrawi cause and showing solidarity with it, especially in his home country of the Czech Republic. He emphasized that such sporting events carry significant humanitarian and solidarity implications for the Sahrawi people and its just cause.
Around 470 runners from 32 nationalities from various countries are participating in the 25th edition of the Sahara Marathon.
