Algiers, February 16, 2025 (SPS) - Abdelkader Taleb Omar, member of the National Secretariat, Ambassador to Algeria, extended condolences at the Namibian Embassy in Algiers following the passing of His Excellency Sam Nujoma, former President of the Republic of Namibia.

On behalf of the Sahrawi people, the Ambassador expressed heartfelt sympathy to the Namibian Embassy and, through it, to the people and government of Namibia. He highlighted the virtues of the late President Sam Nujoma and his remarkable contributions to his country, the African continent, and the causes of liberation for oppressed peoples worldwide.

The Ambassador recalled the late President Sam Nujoma’s distinguished struggle for freedom, justice, and peace, noting his role as a resilient leader at the helm of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO) in the fight for Namibia’s independence and the liberation of all colonized peoples. He emphasized Nujoma’s unwavering dedication to freeing Africa from the remnants of colonialism—politically, economically, and culturally.

The Ambassador also praised the strong and historical ties between the Sahrawi Republic and the Republic of Namibia, as well as their shared commitment to defending the rights of peoples to liberation and independence, and their joint opposition to colonial and hegemonic policies.
