Tifariti University, 2 January 2025 (SPS) - The Research Center and the Journal of the Tifariti university were presented today, Thursday, in the presence of the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Khatri Addouh, the rector of the university, Mulai Emhamed Brahim; members of the Government and Parliament of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (RASD), as well as university staff and Sahrawi researchers.
The meeting served to introduce the Research Center of the Tifariti university, along with its general objectives and research lines on which it works.
In his speech, the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, expressed thanks for those who made the existence of the research center possible, emphasizing the importance of research as one of the pillars supporting the university.
For his part, the rector outlined the research lines of the center and the formation of the researchers, highlighting its multidisciplinary nature and the diversity in their backgrounds: Sahrawi, Portuguese, Algerian, Venezuelan, Spanish, etc.
In this regard, Mulai Emhamed Brahim detailed that the most immediate objectives are the creation of bibliographic sources, both primary (through original research) and secondary, for researchers and academics, as well as the translation of original works on the Sahrawi cause.
Additionally, the rector presented the first issue of the journal, along with the main articles it contains. A sample of these articles was showcased, including one by researcher Jorge Teixeira on the archives of the war in Western Sahara and another by researcher Isabel Lorenco on the Sahrawi diaspora and the struggle for self-determination.
It is worth noting that the second issue of the Tifariti university's journal will be released in October of this year.
