UESARIO Officially Joins the General Assembly of ECOSOCC

Nairobi (Kenya), December 11, 2024 (SPS) – The Union of Students of Saguia Al-Hamra and Río de Oro (UESARIO) officially became a full member of the General Assembly of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council of the African Union (ECOSOCC) during its Fourth Session held in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, from December 11 to 13, 2024.

During the session, UESARIO representative Hamma Hammada, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, took an oath as an official member of the Council, marking this significant step that reflects the commitment of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic to actively participate in organizations at both regional and continental levels to enhance the contribution of Sahrawi students and youth in shaping continental policies.

This membership adds to the inclusion of other new organizations from various parts of the African continent, improving joint cooperation and highlighting the vital role of civil society in achieving the goals of the African Union, particularly Agenda 2063, which aims to build a strong and united Africa.

In a statement to the Sahrawi Press Agency (SPS), Hamma Hammada emphasized that “this event represents a great opportunity to promote the issues of Sahrawi students and youth,” assuring that “we will continue to work hard to advance the African development agenda and amplify the voice of Sahrawi students and youth in regional and international forums.”
