Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) 30 November 2024 (SPS)– The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) participated to the grand closing ceremony of Ethiopia’s ruling party’s 5th anniversary celebrations, held at the historic Adwa Victory Memorial Museum in Addis Ababa this Saturday morning, in the presence of H.E. Ethiopian Prime Minister and party president, Dr. Abiy Ahmed.
Represented by Ambassador Malainin Mohamed, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Sahrawi Republic to the African Union and Ethiopia, the Sahrawi participated alongside the leadership and militants of the party, Ethiopian religious leaders and a host of international dignitaries and diplomats.
The celebration, themed “Ideological Excellence for Inclusive Prosperity,” marked a milestone in the Prosperity Party's journey, reflecting on its accomplishments over the past five years. Ethiopian Prime Minister and party president Dr. Abiy Ahmed addressed the gathering, highlighting the transformation of significant national challenges into opportunities for growth and unity.
“Through a foundation of fraternity, truth, knowledge, and wisdom, the Prosperity Party has turned trials into triumphs,” Dr. Abiy stated. He emphasized the importance of inclusive prosperity as Ethiopia continues to build resilience and inspire other nations.
The ceremony was attended by top Ethiopian leaders, including Deputy Prime Minister and Prosperity Party Vice President Mr. Adem Farah, as well as Federal Ministers, regional governors, city mayors, and senior party officials. Foreign diplomats, religious leaders, and representatives of various international organizations further underscored the event’s significance on the global stage.
The Sahrawi Republic's participation underscores the close ties that links the two nations, both members of the African Union, who share the same Pan African values and principles. It also highlights the shared aspirations of African nations to achieve peace, development, and cooperation amidst their unique challenges.
Over the past week, celebrations for the Prosperity Party’s anniversary spanned Ethiopia, featuring activities such as panel discussions, community service projects, mass sports, and city clean-ups. The initiatives reflected the party's commitment to fostering unity and addressing societal needs while aspiring to play an active role in the international level as an emerging economic power in Africa.
This occasion served as a platform not only to commemorate five years of the Prosperity Party’s achievements but also to promote the values of fraternity and shared success that resonate throughout the African continent. (SPS)
