Berlin, 10 October 2024 (SPS) - Spokesperson of the German Federal Office for the Middle East and North Africa, Ms. Annika Clasen-Edris, announced that her country accepts the ruling of the European Court of Justice, which invalidates the trade agreements between the European Union and Morocco concerning resources exploited in occupied Sahrawi territories.
In a post on social media on Wednesday, she stated that "the European Court of Justice recently ruled in favor of the people of Western Sahara, confirming that the agreements signed between the European Union and Morocco in 2019 should have received the approval of the Sahrawi people. Therefore, the agreements are null and void."
She added, "We accept the ruling of the European Court of Justice issued on October 4 concerning the trade agreements between the European Union and Morocco in the fields of fisheries and agriculture."
