Bologna (Italy) 17 September 2024 (SPS)– During the Italian Democratic Party’s Unity Festival held yesterday evening in Bologna, Polisario Front Representative in Italy, Fatima Mahfoud, emphasized the crucial importance of strictly adhering to the principles of international law as a fundamental requirement to ensure global peace and security.
In her address during a discussion panel on the rights of peoples violated due to occupation or breaches of international legality, Fatima Mahfoud highlighted the vital role of politics and peaceful efforts in resolving conflicts and ensuring peace and security in international relations among nations, rather than promoting wars and violations of international law.
She pointed out that, despite the clarity of international laws and principles on paper, they require extensive public participation to ensure their effective implementation.
Fatima explained that the real application of these laws requires active engagement from citizens to ensure their enforcement on governments, avoiding any deviations by states, as seen in various ongoing conflicts in our current era.
The Sahrawi diplomat participated in this annual panel alongside other speakers from the Italian Democratic Party and from other countries facing international violations, such as the Palestinian and Sahrawi peoples.
This event is considered a significant platform for discussing the challenges faced by different communities and reflects the Italian Democratic Party’s commitment to shaping political awareness among its Cadres, intellectuals, and those concerned with international affairs in Italy, highlighting the Party’s interest in international issues.
