Chief of General Staff of Sahrawi Army Participates in the 19th Ordinary Session of the African Chiefs of Defence Staff and Heads of Safety and Security Services

Ethiopia (Addis Ababa), June 04, 2024 (SPS) - Chief of General Staff of the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army, Member of the National Secretariat, Mohamed El-Wali Aakeik, is participating in the 19th Ordinary Session of the African Chiefs of Defence Staff and Heads of Safety and Security Services, hosted by the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

The meeting discusses the detailed report that experts have studied and approved after intensive deliberations to be submitted to the Chiefs of Defence Staff, as the report constitutes a roadmap that anticipates solutions to the complex crises that are sweeping many regions of the African continent and confronting unconstitutional changes, terrorism, foreign interventions, disasters and other issues that require the leaders of the continent's armies to develop visions that would strengthen African security and political institutions and contribute to strengthening them.

The session was chaired by Brigadier General Mohamed El Mocktar Menny, Chief of the Army Staff and Head of Mauritanian Special Operations Forces, as his country chairs the African Union this year, accompanied by the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Amb. Bankole Adeoye, and members of his office.

The 19th Ordinary Session of the African Chiefs of Defence Staff and Heads of Safety and Security Services unanimously approved the detailed report submitted by the experts, after an in-depth discussion, much of which focused on how to strengthen the African ready forces and continue to enhance their capabilities at the political, material and legal levels, prevent foreign interference in problems between countries, and the need to strengthen the position of the institutions of the African Commission through effective anticipation of all security and political crises through early warning and issuing periodic reports to study centers that identify problems and issue solutions for them.

The Chief of General Staff of the Sahrawi Army had an effective contribution to the deliberations and discussions on the final version of the report, by putting forward several visions that contribute to strengthening the African presence in all crises and that the Sahrawi Republic is committed to the principles of peace and security on our continent by fulfilling our commitments in the African Standby Force through its membership in the North African Regional Capacity with its permanent and ready components to serve the peoples who have the right to enjoy peace and stability in light of respect for the principles of international humanitarian law and the charters of international legitimacy.

The Sahrawi military delegation held several meetings with the heads of African armies, which addressed ways to enhance joint military and security cooperation and exchange experiences.
