Boujdour, May 4, 2024 (WAS) - The establishment of the Federation of Journalists and Media Professionals Interested in and in Solidarity with the Sahrawi Cause was announced Friday during the proceedings of the First International Media Conference In Solidarity With The Sahrawi People, held in the wilaya of Boujdour.
According to the founding statement, the federation aims to unify media efforts to enlighten the international public opinion about the facts and developments of the Sahrawi cause and contribute to breaking the media blackout imposed on the just cause by the international media influenced by Moroccan lobbies and their supporters.
Additionally, the Federation seeks to establish an international network for information exchange and monitoring the developments of the Sahrawi cause. It is committed to disseminating accurate information about the cause and exposing the Moroccan schemes aimed at misleading public opinion.
One of the goals is also to send journalists and media professionals to refugee camps, liberated territories, and occupied territories of Western Sahara in order to document the current situation and convey the voice and stories of the Sahrawi people to the world.
Furthermore, the Federation will participate in international conferences and forums and work on the wide dissemination of its members' participation in activities and meetings organized in their countries to raise awareness and introduce the Sahrawi cause.
