Madrid, Spain, February 28, 2024 (SPS) - Mr. Manu Pineda, the Head of International Relations of the Spanish Communist Party and a Member of the European Parliament, extended his congratulations to the Sahrawi people on behalf of his party on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the declaration of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.

Manu Pineda highlighted that the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic represents "the commitment and determination of the Sahrawi people to realize their inalienable right to self-determination and independence." He emphasized that the Sahrawi people are celebrating nearly half a century of resistance and struggle, first against Spanish colonization and then against Moroccan colonization. He stressed that "despite harsh exile conditions, the Sahrawi people have managed to build a democratic state at the forefront of social rights and have struggled for complete freedom."

In the same context, Manu Pineda strongly rejected the illegitimate positions of Pedro Sanchez, the Prime Minister of Spain, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jose Manuel Albares, regarding Western Sahara.
