Doha (Qatar), Nov 20, 2011 (SPS) - The Minister of Culture and Member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Ms. Khadija Hamdi, confirmed Sunday that the Saharawis “have great hopes on the ability of the Qatari diplomacy to convince Morocco to heel for peace as to put an end to the conflict, through adopting the international charters and resolutions,” in an interview with the daily Qatari newspaper “Al-Arab”.

The Saharawi minister emphasized that the Saharawis “have the right to looking forward for the support of Qatar, which had played grand efforts in supporting peoples,” calling on the Gulf people “to stop ignoring the Saharawis rights in return for political understandings with Morocco.”

Member of the Polisario National Secretariat appreciated the positive developments of Gulf Countries in dealing with the Saharawi file, calling them to intensify the work for ending the suffering of the Saharawis, which excided three decades.

Ms. Khadija Hamdi underlined that the Arabic estrangement and complete ignorance to this issue “pushed the Saharawis to rely on western aids and to send their children during summer season for European states to avoid the Camps hot weather, despite the fear of obliterating their identity and Christianization.”

She therefore regretted for the fact that the Arab countries have linked the humanitarian aspects with the political understandings, and did not provide any aid support for about 160.000 Saharawis suffering from cruelty of nature and bitterness of injustice.

The Saharawi official reiterated the Saharawis refusal to the Moroccan proposal of Autonomy “because it is not in line with the right of peoples to freedom and independence,” urging the Moroccan king to stand in the bravers raw and accept the UN resolutions on the decolonization of Western Sahara.

She finally emphasized that the solution to the Saharawi cause “will have the biggest impact to move forward in an integrated Maghreb unity.” (SPS)
