Geneva (Switzerland), April 15, 2016 (SPS) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and member of the National Secretariat, Mr.Mohamed Salem Ould Salek called Thursday the United Nations Security Council to set a specific date for the referendum in Western Sahara and to ensure that MINURSO exercise its full competences and all its political, civil, administrative and military components.

In a press conference held yesterday at the Club Swiss Press, the head of the Saharawi diplomacy called on the Security Council to lift all obstacles imposed on the work of "MINURSO" and ensure that it can fulfill its mission in monitoring and protection of human rights in Western Sahara as others peacekeeping missions worldwide.
Minister assumed the UN and the Security Council the responsibility of moroccan plans aimed at changing the demographic map of the territory and asked  for an end to the systematic looting of the natural resources of Western Sahara by Morocco.
Mohamed Salem Ould Salek stressed that the Security Council of the UN should put an end to the Moroccan intransigence and its rejection of international legality, blaming  France the hinderance of any progress in the peaceful resolution of the Western Sahara issue  which is a question of decolonization recognized by all UN resolutions and must be resolved through the organization of a free and fair referendum under the auspices of the United Nations ".
Foreign Minister warns of the return of military confrontation if the Security Council does not intervene with determination and bring Morocco to comply with  the decisions of the UN, especially the return of the Mission of the United Nations for the organization a referendum in Western Sahara "MINURSO" with all its components.
