Algerian Foreign Ministry holds farewell ceremony for ambassador Abdelkader Taleb Omar

Algiers, May 18, 2025 (SPS) – The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a farewell ceremony today, Sunday, for Ambassador Abdelkader Taleb Omar, marking the end of his diplomatic mission in Algeria. His departure follows his appointment as Head of the Social Affairs Committee at the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front and Minister of Education and Vocational Training in the Sahrawi government.

The event was attended by several ambassadors accredited to Algeria from Africa and Asia, as well as senior officials and directors from the Algerian Foreign Ministry.

In his speech, Secretary-General of the Algerian Foreign Ministry, Lounès Magramane, praised the strong and enduring cooperative relations between Algeria and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).

For his part, Ambassador Abdelkader Taleb Omar commended Algeria’s unwavering and principled positions in supporting the Sahrawi people’s legitimate struggle for freedom and independence. He also highlighted the solidarity of freedom-loving people worldwide with this just cause, which remains a decolonization issue in line with international law.

On the sidelines of the event, Secretary-General Lounès Magramane hosted a luncheon in honor of the ambassadors, during which symbolic gifts were exchanged and commemorative photos were taken.
