President Tebboune praises Slovenia's position on the Western Sahara issue

Ljubljana (Slovenia), May 13, 2025 (SPS) – The President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, commended Slovenia's stance on the Western Sahara issue, which is based on a solution guaranteeing the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.

During a joint press statement with his Slovenian counterpart, Nataša Pirc Musar, as part of his state visit to Slovenia, President Tebboune praised Slovenia's positions on the Western Sahara issue, reiterating his desire to "find a solution under United Nations supervision that recognizes the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination through the organization of a referendum."

In a related context, President Tebboune applauded Slovenia’s "courageous and principled positions" on the Palestinian issue, noting that it was the first European country to recognize the State of Palestine—a move he described as "a great honor."

For her part, the Slovenian President reaffirmed her country’s position on the Western Sahara issue, emphasizing the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination in accordance with international legitimacy.
