Morocco expels two Italian journalists from Western Sahara

Occupied EL Aaiún, 28 April 2025 (SPS) – Moroccan occupation authorities have denied entry to the Occupied Territories of Western Sahara to two Italian journalists, according to Sahrawi human rights sources.

The same sources reported that journalist Matteo Garofoglia and photographer Giovanni Colomoni intended to document the human rights situation in the occupied Sahrawi cities, in light of Morocco’s ongoing violations against defenseless Sahrawi civilians.

With this latest expulsion, the number of observers and journalists deported from Western Sahara has risen to 311, amid an ominous international silence.
