Madrid (Spain), April 19, 2025 (SPS) – The Spanish Coordination Committee of Associations in Solidarity with the Sahrawi People strongly condemned, in a statement issued yesterday, Friday, the remarks made by Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares during his meeting with his Moroccan counterpart.

The statement emphasized that "any proposal that disregards the Sahrawi people’s inalienable right to self-determination and independence constitutes a blatant violation of international law."

It further noted that "this stance contradicts the sentiments of Spanish citizens and all political forces, except for the political party to which the minister belongs."

Despite the complexities of the current geopolitical context, the committee reaffirmed its continued support for the Polisario Front and the application of international law regarding the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination and independence.

The statement also echoed the position repeatedly expressed by the Polisario Front, the sole legitimate representative of the Sahrawi people, that "no one can force the Sahrawi people to give up its legitimate rights."

The committee concluded its statement by urging "civil society and its political and social organizations to demand respect for international law and all human rights for all peoples and individuals, and to put an end to all forms of occupation."
