Shaheed El-Hafed, March 26, 2025 (SPS) – The Secretary-General of the General Union of Workers of Saguia El-Hamra and Rio de Oro (UGTSARIO) revealed today, Wednesday, the significant national and international participation expected in the union's 10th Congress.
In this context, Mr. Salama confirmed that the number of foreign participants will exceed 300, including representatives from trade unions in various countries such as Algeria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Mauritania, Niger, Burkina Faso, and South Africa.
He also disclosed the number of national attendees from all Sahrawi communities, which will reach 405.
Regarding the congress's date, slogan, and location, Mr. Salama announced that it will be held from April 18 to 20, in the wilaya of Dakhla , under the slogan: "Sahrawi Workers: A Pledge of Loyalty on the Path of the Martyrs."
He further confirmed that the preparatory political conferences for the congress will begin on April 5 and 6, calling for broad participation from workers in discussions and sharing perspectives on the topics up for debate. He emphasized that the congress will not only be a platform for discussion but also for ratification and electing new leadership.
Concerning the submission of candidacy files for the positions of Secretary-General or Executive Office, Mr. Salama clarified that there is a specific deadline for submissions, which will be open on April 7, 8, and 9, to be submitted to the relevant committee at the union's headquarters.
