Geneva (Switzerland), March 6, 2025 (SPS) – A conference was organized today, Thursday, under the auspices of the South African Embassy in Geneva to present the annual report on human rights violations in Western Sahara during 2024.
The report, prepared for the second consecutive year by the organizations NOVACT and ACAPS, in partnership with a working group from the occupied territories, is titled "Voices of Resistance." It scientifically and meticulously exposes the grave violations committed by the Moroccan occupation authorities in the occupied Sahrawi territories.
The conference, held on the sidelines of the 58th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, was attended by several ambassadors, representatives of diplomatic missions, and international human rights organizations.
The speakers highlighted the efforts involved in preparing the report and the challenges faced while documenting the systematic violations committed by the Moroccan occupation. These violations include the siege of homes, the deliberate targeting of activists, the violent suppression of demonstrations, the ongoing suffering of Sahrawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails, as well as the deportation of Sahrawi citizens and the confiscation of their lands.
