Wilaya of Smara, February 27, 2025 (SPS) - The Wilaya of Smara hosted today, Thursday, the celebrations commemorating the 49th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Republic.
The celebrations were attended by the Prime Minister, member of the National Secretariat, Mr. Boushraya Hammoudi Bayoun, members of the National Secretariat and the Government, officials from various state and Polisario Front institutions, as well as a broad international participation with the presence of over 400 foreign participants from more than 32 countries around the world who have come to take part in the 25th edition of the Sahara Marathon and to join the Sahrawi people in celebrating the anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic.
The celebrations featured folkloric displays by participants from various social and political sectors of the Wilaya, as well as performances by school groups and kindergartens, highlighting the image of the Sahrawi state and the progress it has made over 49 years in building its institutions and in the field of human development and the development of the Sahrawi people.
The anniversary comes at a time when there is a consensus on the inalienable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination, as reaffirmed by the United Nations, the European Court of Justice, and the African Union.
