New York (United Nations), 20 February 2025 (SPS) - The representative of the Polisario Front at the United Nations and coordinator with MINURSO, Sidi Mohammed Omar, affirmed that the visit made by a member of the French government to the occupied Sahrawi territories "marks a new chapter of aggression against the Sahrawi people and against international law and the principles of international legitimacy."
In an interview with the "Al-Hurra" website, Mr. Sidi Mohammed Omar reiterated the Sahrawi Republic's condemnation and strong denunciation of this French step, which "reflects the animosity that the French government holds against the Sahrawi people and their legitimate aspirations to regain sovereignty over their entire homeland."
The Sahrawi diplomat pointed out that "France has consistently supported the occupying Moroccan state politically, diplomatically, and militarily since the beginning of the conflict, which is in complete contradiction to its responsibilities as a permanent member of the Security Council and to the letter and spirit of the United Nations Charter, including Chapter XI, which classifies the Sahrawi issue as a matter of decolonization."
