Smara (Refugees Camps), 13 November 2024 (SPS) - Participants in the 2nd International Seminar on Solidarity, Cultural Exchange for Peace in Western Sahara highlighted on Tuesday, from Smara (Sahrawi Refugees Camps), the causes of liberation that have led to the independence of oppressed peoples.
In this regard, university professor Abdelhak Bougherara, a researcher in international relations, highlighted the glorious Algerian Revolution, which inspired other peoples, including the Sahrawi people.
For his part, Benadjmia Mohamed Yazid from the University of Oran focused in his presentation on Emir Abdelkader, an iconic figure in Algerian history, known, according to him, for his fierce struggle against the French occupiers and for his human and justice-oriented values.
The speaker said that Emir Abdelkader, through his fight against French occupation, aimed to spread justice and to uphold the values of freedom and dignity.
For his part, chairman of the scientific councils of the Zaouïas Cheikhiyya, Mohamed Cheikh El-Djilali, stressed in his speech the importance of adhering to religious spirit, values, and national constants.
“We hope, through this seminar, to make the oppressed feel that injustice is rejected by all,” he said.
“Make the glorious Algerian Revolution and the resistance of the Algerian people an example to follow in your struggles to regain your freedom,” he said in a message sent to all the oppressed in the world.
It is worth noting that the second International Seminar on Solidarity and Cultural Exchange for Peace in Western Sahara (November 12-14), held at the headquarters of the Sahrawi Women’s Union with the participation of delegations from numerous countries supporting the Sahrawi cause, coincides with the opening of the fourth National Sahrawi Book Fair.
The event is also marked by the participation of delegations from Algeria, the United States, Austria, Germany, France, and Kenya.
