Dublin (Ireland), 20 September 2024 (SPS) - The representative of the Polisario Front in Ireland, Nafei Rais, stressed that the Sahrawi cause requires support from all peoples, bodies and organizations defending human rights.
This came during Friday's meeting of Mr. Nafei with the president of the Irish Teachers' Union, David Walters, accompanied by the union's secretary general, Michael Gillespie, at the union's headquarters in the capital Dublin.
The Sahrawi diplomat presented to his hosts a summary of the Sahrawi cause as a case of colonialism and a people seeking to gain their freedom after more than forty years of the Moroccan illegal occupation of Western Sahara.
The representative of the Polisario Front in Ireland touched on the reality of education in the Sahrawi Republic, stressing that the Polisario Front has been able to provide educational opportunities and ensure its continuity by building the qualified Sahrawi human being.
He also gave an overview of the situation of the Sahrawis and the flagrant violations of their fundamental rights they are subjected to on a daily basis, as well as the illegal exploitation of their country's resources in collusion with some Western countries and companies.
