Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), July 16, 2024 (SPS) - The Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) concluded its 48th ordinary session on Tuesday, which began in a series of meetings since June 18 last. During the session, the PRC discussed a large number of various reports of interest to the continent and the management of its affairs, which are a concern for decision-makers, especially political, social, security and structural issues. The PRC adopted its final report and draft decisions that will be submitted to the 45th ordinary session of the Executive Council, to be held on July 18-19.
The Permanent Representatives Committee worked for a full month to discuss numerous reports, files and issues that are a concern for the continent and its peoples in various fields, such as the reform and restructuring of the Union's structures, the issue of multilateral partnerships, development and human rights, refugees and the Union's efforts to resolve conflicts, health and migration, among others.
In turn, the Executive Council, which includes the foreign ministers of the member states of the African Union, will discuss the report of the ordinary session of the Permanent Representatives Committee and its draft decisions, where it is expected to adopt the final texts that will be submitted to the semi-annual Coordinating Summit of African Union Heads of State and Government in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, on June 20 and 21.
The Sahrawi Republic participated in the proceedings of the 48th ordinary session of the Permanent Representatives Committee, represented by the Ambassador of the Sahrawi Republic to Ethiopia, the Permanent Representative to the African Union, Lamine Baali, and members of the Sahrawi mission in Addis Ababa.
