Shaheed El Hafed, 23 October 2026 (SPS) – The National Secretariat of the Polisario Front has reiterated its rejection of any approach that fails to uphold the Sahrawi people’s inalienable right to self-determination and independence.
Meeting on Friday under the chairmanship of President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, the National Secretariat approved the internal regulations of the National Preparatory Committee for the Polisario Front’s 17th Congress.
The meeting also reviewed the latest developments in the Sahrawi cause, particularly at the UN Security Council level.
The National Secretariat reaffirmed the Polisario Front’s position as the legitimate and sole representative of the Sahrawi people, recalling that Western Sahara has been on the UN list of Non-Self-Governing Territories since 1963.
While reiterating the Front’s commitment to a just, lasting and definitive solution to the conflict in accordance with the UN Charter and relevant resolutions, it stressed that any political approach must guarantee the Sahrawi people’s inalienable, non-negotiable and non-expiring right to self-determination and independence.
