Vitry-Sur-Seine (France), Oct 6, 2026 (SPS) – The 'Sahrawis in Revolt' association organized an information and solidarity evening on Monday in Vitry-sur-Seine, near Paris, to support Sahrawi political prisoners who have been on a hunger strike since September 23.
Held at La Kunda, the event brought together activists and supporters of the Sahrawi cause to address the critical situation of political detainees, particularly those from the Gdeim Izik group.
Following a brief historical overview of the Gdeim Izik protest camp and its role in the Sahrawi people's peaceful struggle, attendees watched the documentary 'Gdeim Izik: The Camp of Sahrawi Resistance,' which highlights the camp's history and its forced dispersal in November 2010.
A round table discussion featured Claude Mangin-Asfari from the French Association of Friends of the SADR (AARASD) and Bachir Moutik, representative of the Sahrawi Youth Association. The speakers detailed the alarming detention conditions of the prisoners and provided updates on their hunger strike.
Following a Q&A session with the audience, organizers urged international civil society to step up solidarity initiatives and maintain continuous pressure to secure the immediate release of all Sahrawi political prisoners.
