Liverpool (United Kingdom), September 29, 2026 (SPS) – Deputy Representative of the Polisario Front to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Hamdi Yousef, participated in the annual conference of the UK Labour Party in Liverpool, at the invitation of the party leadership.
The occasion provided an opportunity to hold meetings with party officials, parliamentarians and trade union representatives, during which the latest developments concerning the Western Sahara issue and the human rights situation in the occupied parts of the territory were discussed.
The meetings also addressed the situation of nine Gdeim Izik prisoners who are on hunger strike, with the Sahrawi delegation calling for particular attention to their case and respect for their rights and relevant international obligations.
The discussions further covered the issue of Western Sahara’s natural resources and related developments at the European judicial level, as well as the United Kingdom’s role as a permanent member of the UN Security Council. The Sahrawi delegation called on the British government to support UN efforts and respect Security Council resolutions concerning the self-determination of the Sahrawi people.
