Tenerife (Canary Islands), September 28, 2026 (SPS) – The city of La Laguna, on the island of Tenerife, hosted on Saturday an information event on the “Holidays in Peace 2026” programme, with the participation of civil society groups, Canarian families hosting Sahrawi children, members of the Sahrawi community, and solidarity activists.
The event provided an opportunity to highlight the programme’s humanitarian and solidarity objectives, as well as the role of Canarian families in hosting Sahrawi children during the summer holidays, providing them with family care, healthcare and recreational activities.
The event was attended by Alberto Negrín, President of the Canarian Association of Friendship with the Sahrawi People, alongside families who have previously hosted Sahrawi children and others preparing to take part in the programme for the first time.
The programme also featured musical performances by Trovuntivitis, a band known for its solidarity with just causes, including the Sahrawi cause.
The event was organised with the support of the Canarian Association of Friendship with the Sahrawi People and the Tenerife Island Council, under the slogan: “Sahrawi children keep hope alive, and you hold the key.”
