New York (United Nations), 22 September 2026 (SPS) – On the sidelines of the high-level general debate of the 81st ordinary session of the United Nations General Assembly, Mr. Mohamed Yeslem Beissat, Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs, held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from brotherly and friendly countries.
The Sahrawi minister held separate bilateral meetings with H.E. Mr. Limpho Tau, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations of Lesotho, and H.E. Mr. Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba.
The meetings addressed the latest developments concerning the national cause in light of upcoming developments at the United Nations, as well as an exchange of views on other issues of common interest.
The two ministers reaffirmed their countries’ principled and steadfast positions on the Sahrawi issue, expressing their unconditional support for the Sahrawi Republic and the legitimate right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and freedom.
The Sahrawi Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs is accompanied during the current session of the United Nations General Assembly by Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, member of the National Secretariat, Polisario Front Representative to the United Nations and Coordinator with MINURSO, and Mr. Malainin Salama, Adviser at the Front’s Mission to the United Nations.
