Boumerdes, August 12, 2026 (SPS) – A lecture entitled “The Situation on the Ground and Its Political and Economic Repercussions on the Moroccan Regime,” delivered today, Wednesday, by Mr. Mustapha Dadi, Central Director of the Directorate of External Relations and Cooperation at the Ministry of Defense, addressed the stages of the armed struggle waged by the Sahrawi people against the invaders from the beginning of the revolution until the 1991 ceasefire.
He noted that these stages were characterized by comprehensive attacks against the occupation forces along the entire length of the Moroccan defensive wall “the wall of humiliation and shame”.
Mustapha clarified that the period following the ceasefire was marked by Morocco's continued violations of the ceasefire agreement and its failure to comply with United Nations resolutions concerning the organization of a referendum on self-determination for the Sahrawi people. This ultimately culminated in the occupation forces' attack on Sahrawi civilians who were peacefully protesting in the Guerguerat area against the plundering of Sahrawi resources.
He stressed that this provocative act and aggressive conduct resulted in the violation of the ceasefire, prompting the Sahrawi leadership to decide to resume the war against the Moroccan occupation on November 13, 2020.
Since then, Mustapha added, the situation on the ground has been characterized by a comprehensive military escalation by the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army, which has targeted the Moroccan occupation army at its various military bases from the north to the south of Western Sahara.
Mustapha highlighted the losses sustained by the Moroccan army, as well as the costs of the war in Western Sahara.
