UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara arrives in Sahrawi refugee camps

Shaheed El-Hafed, June 7, 2026 (SPS) – The Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, arrived this Sunday evening in the Sahrawi refugee camps as part of his regional tour.

Upon his arrival at Tindouf Airport, he was welcomed by Sidi Mohamed Omar, the POLISARIO Front Representative to the United Nations and Coordinator with the UN Mission, as well as Mr. Bulahi Sayed, National Director of Protocol.

Representing the Algerian side were Mr. Dahou Mustapha, Governor (Wali) of Tindouf Province, along with members of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO).
