Windhoek (Namibia), April 30, 2026 (SPS) – As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the Sahrawi Republic and Namibia, the Sahrawi Ambassador accredited to Namibia, Hamdi Mayara, continues his meetings with senior Namibian officials.
He was received by Hon. Dr. Saara Kuugongelwa, Speaker of the Namibian Parliament. During the meeting, the Sahrawi ambassador briefed his host on the latest developments and expressed the Sahrawi people’s appreciation for Namibia’s solidarity and support for their cause.
The Namibian official reaffirmed her country’s unconditional support for the Sahrawi people’s choice of freedom and independence, as well as her willingness to further develop bilateral relations between the Sahrawi and Namibian legislative institutions.
The Sahrawi ambassador was also received by Mr. Uahekua Hernuga, Deputy Secretary-General of the ruling SWAPO Party, at the party’s headquarters in Windhoek. In addition to discussing recent developments in the decolonization conflict in Western Sahara, both sides reviewed the strong bilateral relations linking the two national liberation movements—the Polisario Front and SWAPO—and explored ways to advance them toward new horizons of cooperation and exchange of expertise.
