Shaheed El Hafed, April 17, 2026 (SPS) – The National Secretariat of the Polisario Front stressed that the United Nations remains the legitimate and practical framework for achieving a just and final solution to the conflict.
In a statement concluding the work of its 9th ordinary session, held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, the National Secretariat once again called on the United Nations and its relevant bodies to fully assume their responsibilities in decolonizing Western Sahara.
The National Secretariat emphasized that the United Nations remains the legitimate and practical framework for continuing the necessary efforts to reach a just and lasting solution, as stipulated by relevant United Nations General Assembly and Security Council resolutions.
It reiterated the firm determination of the Sahrawi people to stand against all attempts aimed at altering the international and legal nature of the Sahrawi issue, which has been on the United Nations agenda since 1963 as a decolonization issue that can only be resolved through the exercise of the Sahrawi people’s inalienable right to self-determination and independence.
