New York (United Nations), April 11, 2026 (SPS) – Dr. Sidi Mohamed Ammar, member of the National Secretariat, representative of the Polisario Front at the United Nations and coordinator with MINURSO, met Friday with Jean-Pierre Lacroix, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, ahead of the closed consultation session that the UN Security Council will hold this month regarding the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO).
During the meeting, which took place at UN Headquarters, several issues related to MINURSO were discussed. The Polisario Front’s representative at the UN and MINURSO coordinator reaffirmed the movement’s position on this matter, along with other related issues.
The UN Security Council is expected to hold closed consultations on MINURSO under the Bahraini presidency on April 24. Additionally, the Council is scheduled to receive, on April 30, a report on the “strategic review” concerning the future mandate of MINURSO, in line with the latest Security Council Resolution 2797 (2025).
