Sahrawi Republic mission in Addis Ababa offers condolences over passing of former Algerian president Liamine Zeroual

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), April 1, 2026 (SPS) – Members of the diplomatic mission of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic to Ethiopia and the African Union visited today, Wednesday, the headquarters of the Embassy of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in Addis Ababa to offer their condolences following the passing of former Algerian president and freedom fighter Liamine Zeroual, who recently passed away.

The Sahrawi delegation that came to offer condolences and sign the condolence book opened by the Algerian embassy included Ambassador Lamine Baali, Permanent Representative of the Sahrawi Republic to Ethiopia and the African Union; Ambassador Malainin Lakhal, Deputy Permanent Representative; and Mr. Rgueibi Abdallah, Cultural and Media Attaché at the mission.

The Sahrawi diplomatic delegation expressed its heartfelt condolences, as well as those of the entire Sahrawi people, to the Algerian government and people, and to the family of the deceased over this great loss. They also praised the late leader’s virtues, his struggle, and his dedication to serving his country and just causes in Africa and the world, foremost among them the cause of the Sahrawi people, who hold great respect and appreciation for the late president.
