Lithuanian runner Dert Zilidic wins 10km race of 26th edition of Sahara Marathon

Wilaya of Smara, February 24, 2026 (SPS) – Lithuanian runner Dert Zilidic has won the 10km race of the 26th edition of Sahara Marathon.

In statements to the press, the Lithuanian athlete said he felt “happy about this and committed to carrying the message of the legitimate struggle of the Sahrawi people to the world, particularly to my country, Lithuania.”

It is worth noting that this international solidarity sporting event, which on this occasion brings together more than 200 athletes from 16 countries, kicked off this morning in the Wilaya of El Aaiún. The marathon is divided into four distances: 42km from El Aaiún to Smara, 21km from El Aaiún to Auserd, while the 5km and 10km races take place in the Wilaya of Smara.
