Shaheed El Hafed, February 5, 2026 (SPS) – The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, affirmed that the Sahrawi people are the ultimate decision-makers in determining their future, as they are the sole and exclusive owners of Western Sahara.
In his address while presiding over the closing session of the 4th Arab International Conference in Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, President Brahim Ghali stressed that the Polisario Front cannot, under any circumstances, substitute itself for the Sahrawi people in making the final decision regarding their future, as they alone hold exclusive sovereignty over Western Sahara.
The President of the Republic recalled the clear legal nature of the conflict in Western Sahara as a decolonization issue, as affirmed by resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council, including the most recent resolution. He noted that a just, lasting, and final solution—acceptable to both parties to the conflict, the Polisario Front and the Kingdom of Morocco—must be consistent with the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and, in particular, must guarantee the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination and independence.
President Brahim Ghali renewed the Polisario Front’s full readiness, in its capacity as the sole and legitimate representative of the Sahrawi people, to assume whatever is required in sharing the burdens of peace, and to show flexibility and cooperation with international efforts aimed at reaching this desired solution.
