El Aaiun (Occupied Territories), 25 December 2025 (SPS) – The Committee of Mothers of Sahrawi Disappeared Persons held the Moroccan state fully responsible for the disappearance of their sons.

In a statement issued on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of their sons’ disappearance, the Committee clarified that the abduction action carried out by the Moroccan occupation forces was premeditated and planned in advance, and targeted their 15 sons because of the activities of some of them in connection with the Independence Intifada that took place in the occupied territories at the time.

The families pointed to the continued ambiguity surrounding the fate of two bodies said to belong to two of the disappeared, in light of the Moroccan authorities’ refusal to allow an independent and neutral body to oversee the necessary DNA examinations.

The Committee expressed serious fears about attempts to eliminate their sons, considering that the policy of evasion and denial pursued by the Moroccan State is alarming and requires appealing to the international community for urgent intervention, the opening of a serious and responsible international investigation into the crime of enforced disappearance, and the demand for the release of the disappeared as soon as possible.

The Committee affirmed that the abduction of their sons and their detention in unofficial detention centers falls within the series of grave violations committed by the Moroccan regime since its invasion and occupation of Western Sahara, amid a troubling international silence.
