Shaheed El-Hafed, 24November 2025 (SPS) – Member of the National Secretariat, Minister of Religious Affairs and Original Education, Mr. Sidi Ahmed Aaliat, received Sunday a delegation of scholars from Syria and Lebanon who are on a working and solidarity visit to the Sahrawi people and the institutions of the Sahrawi Republic.
The Minister of Religious Affairs and Original Education welcomed the delegation, which is visiting the Sahrawi refugee camps for the first time, praising the support, solidarity, and brotherhood expressed through this visit, as well as the fulfillment of the duty to aid and lift the injustice endured by the Sahrawi people, who have faced occupation and displacement for more than five decades amid Arab and international negligence in completing the decolonization of the last colony in Africa.
He affirmed that it is the responsibility of scholars, preachers, and elites in the Arab and Islamic world to stand by what is right and defend the oppressed. He added that this blessed visit by esteemed scholars from Syria and Lebanon embodies this duty.
For their part, members of the Arab delegation expressed their admiration for the steadfastness of the Sahrawi people, the justice of their cause, and their courageous resistance. They emphasized that their visit aims to break the silence surrounding the injustice suffered by the Sahrawi people due to the ongoing occupation of Western Sahara.
The delegation from the Reform and Belonging Association includes scholars from Syria and Lebanon, among them the president, Sheikh Dr. Hossam El-Ali from Lebanon; Sheikh Dr. Moussa Al-Khalaf from Syria; Sheikh Salem Dabbousi, Mufti of Canada Online; Sheikh Dr. Mohammed El-Rafei; and Sheikh Hadid El-Darwish, tribal sheikh in Syria.
The Arab delegation is accompanied by the representative of the Polisario Front in the Arab East, Ambassador Mustafa El-Kattab.
