Paris (France), October 9, 2025 (SPS) – A delegation from the General Union of Sahrawi Workers (UGTSARIO) met with the French National Confederation of Labor in a working session aimed at strengthening joint efforts, as part of a tour of French labor and trade union organizations.

During the meeting, the UGTSARIO Secretary-General presented a detailed overview of the deteriorating human rights situation in the occupied Sahrawi territories, made worse by the international community’s silence.

Both parties called for the release of Sahrawi political prisoners held in Moroccan prisons. These prisoners continue to suffer from the Moroccan occupation’s grave human rights abuses.

UGTSARIO presented the harsh economic and social conditions facing the Sahrawi people, while Morocco, with the complicity of international powers and companies, continues to plunder Sahrawi natural resources in violation of international law and human rights conventions.

Meanwhile, Sahrawis are facing unemployment, exclusion, marginalization, and the forced displacement of skilled individuals inside Morocco. In contrast, Morocco encourages the settlement of thousands of Moroccan settlers in the occupied territories, granting them privileges in an attempt to alter the demographic structure of the occupied region. This policy aims to impoverish the Sahrawi people and forcibly displace them from their land.
