"Algiers, Capital of El Hassania Culture 2025" event opens in presence of political, cultural figures

Algiers, 21 June 2025 (SPS) - "Algiers, Capital of El Hassania Culture 2025" event opened Saturday at the Moufdi Zakaria Palace of Culture, in Algiers, in the presence of the ministers of Culture of Algeria, the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, and many political, intellectual, literary and artistic figures.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the Algerian minister of Culture and Arts, Zouhir Ballalou, the Sahrawi minister of Culture, Moussa Salma Leabeid, Mauritania's minister of Culture, Arts, Communication and Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesman, Al-Houssein Ould Medou, the president of the International Union of Hassania Writers, Edou Ould Beniouk, the advisor to the Algerian president of the Republic for Religious Affairs, Zawiyas and Qur'anic Schools, Mohamed Hassouni, the advisor to the Algerian president of the Republic for Political Affairs and Relations with the Young, Civil Society and Political Parties, Zoheir Bouamama, in addition to Algerian heads of national bodies, intellectuals and artists.

The opening ceremony of the event, held under the theme: "El Hassania Bring Us Together," was marked by the opening of various exhibitions on Hassania Culture.

The exhibitions feature books, manuscripts, cinematographic works, handicrafts, shedding light on the customs, traditions and heritage rituals shared by the participating countries.

An exhibition on the National Culture Park in Tindouf is also on agenda.

This major event aims to promote the common heritage of the region to strengthen relations between peoples.

Large delegations of artists, researchers and writers are taking part, including around forty from Mauritania and sixty from Western Sahara, to enhance exchanges with their Algerian counterparts on Hassania culture.
