Occupied El Aaiún, September 6, 2026 (SPS) – As part of its monitoring of the situation of Sahrawi civilian prisoners held in Moroccan occupation prisons, the League for the Protection of Sahrawi Prisoners in Moroccan Prisons received a communication from the family of Sahrawi civilian prisoner Abdullah Abhah, a member of the Gdeim Izik prisoner group.
The family said it was surprised that its son, who is detained at Tiflet 2 Prison in Morocco, was prevented, for the third consecutive time, from receiving medication and assistance sent by his family, despite the urgent need for such supplies given the prisoner's health condition.
In the same context, the family of Sahrawi prisoner Mohamed Bani, also a member of the Gdeim Izik group, reported that the administration of Ait Melloul 2 Prison in Morocco had taken the provocative step of preventing him from receiving basic assistance sent by his family, which normally includes medication and clothing, without providing any convincing justification.
In response to this unlawful measure, civilian prisoner Mohamed Bani intends to begin a 48-hour warning hunger strike starting Monday, as an initial protest against the discriminatory measures taken against him by the administration of Ait Melloul 2 Prison.
In view of the health condition of the two prisoners, and amid the systematic violations they are subjected to at Tiflet 2 and Ait Melloul 2 prisons in Morocco, their families have renewed their appeal to international organizations to intervene to put an end to these violations and arbitrary measures, which continue unabated in complete disregard of the law and amid impunity.
