President of Republic receives new UESARIO leadership

Shaheed El Hafed, August 25, 2026 (SPS) – The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, received today, Tuesday, the newly elected leadership of the Union of Students of Saguia el Hamra and Rio de Oro (UESARIO), accompanied by the outgoing leadership and the presidium of the Students’ Congress.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister, member of the National Secretariat, Mr. Bushraya Hamoudi Beyoun, and the member of the National Secretariat, in charge of the Political Organization Secretariat, Mr. Amrabih El Mami.

During the meeting, President Brahim Ghali congratulated the student organization on the successful completion of its electoral process, praising the spirit of responsibility and commitment it demonstrated, as well as its importance in strengthening the role of the Sahrawi student movement in the national liberation struggle.

He stressed the need for young people and students to engage actively and constructively in the institutions of the national state and to demonstrate their competence and ability to assume responsibilities through hard work, discipline, and commitment, in a manner that serves the objectives of the national project and strengthens the institutions of the Sahrawi state.

He called for efforts to enhance the integration of young people and students into state institutions, including the military institution, by developing mechanisms for coordination and networking between the Students and Graduates’ Association and the Ministry of National Defense. This would enable the scientific expertise and capabilities of Sahrawi youth to be harnessed and directed toward serving the national cause.

The Secretary-General of the Polisario Front also addressed the exceptional international circumstances surrounding the national cause, stressing that the current stage requires students and young people to strengthen their determination and raise their levels of preparedness and responsibility, while engaging consciously and effectively with the requirements of this new phase in the history of the Sahrawi people’s struggle.

In this context, he called for stronger links and close coordination with the Association of Sahrawi Graduates and Unemployed Graduates in the occupied cities, in a way that contributes to unifying efforts, supporting the steadfastness of Sahrawi communities in the occupied territories, and strengthening communication between them and the various components of the Sahrawi national movement.

He concluded his remarks by stressing that Sahrawi students and youth are called upon to continue playing their pioneering role in the liberation struggle, raise the level of responsibility expected of them by virtue of their position in society, uphold national unity and the national project, and contribute with competence and discipline to building the institutions of the Sahrawi state and realizing the aspirations of the Sahrawi people for freedom and independence.
