Ankara (Türkiye), July 19, 2026 (SPS) – Several countries and international organizations organized a conference in the Turkish capital under the theme “International Alliance to Prevent the Outbreak of a Third World War,” attended by prominent figures, experts and specialists interested in exploring ways to establish peace in every region of the world.
The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic participated in the conference, represented by the Ambassador in Charge of Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ibrahim El-Mokhtar Boumakhrouta.
The conference discussed the current deteriorating international situation, exacerbated by wars raging in several parts of the world, violations of and disregard for international law, the bullying of major powers, and the unjustified absence of the United Nations and international organizations concerned with establishing peace, security and stability in the world.
The representative of the Sahrawi State delivered a speech on the occasion, addressing the illegal war waged by the Moroccan occupation for decades against the unarmed Sahrawi people, its occupation of their national territory, the plundering of their natural resources, and the suffering inflicted on the Sahrawi people for more than 50 years.
Ibrahim El-Mokhtar stressed that this war would not have continued without the continued support of a major state that is, regrettably, a member of the United Nations Security Council—France, specifically, he added.
The Ambassador in Charge of Asia affirmed the Sahrawi Republic's commitment to peace efforts aimed at genuinely establishing peace in Western Sahara and throughout the world. Ibrahim El-Mokhtar stressed the need to return to international law and respect it, and to resolve conflicts through dialogue and negotiations instead of the language of force, wars, hegemony and the imposition of solutions.
The representative of the Sahrawi State concluded his speech by stressing the need to support the peaceful settlement process in Western Sahara in a manner that enables the Sahrawi people to fully exercise their right to self-determination and independence.
