Nouakchott (Mauritania), 15 July 2026 (SPS) – Sahrawi delegation in Mauritania met today, Wednesday, with Dr. Mohamed Ould Moloud, President of the Union of the Forces of Progress Party (UFP), who heads the opposition coalition comprising 15 political parties.
The meeting, attended by members of the coalition's bureau, provided a valuable opportunity for both the Sahrawi and Mauritanian sides to review developments in the national cause and their repercussions on the region.
The Mauritanian side reaffirmed Mauritania's position on the Sahrawi issue, consistent with its policy of positive neutrality, support for United Nations efforts and respect for peoples' right to self-determination.
The member of the National Secretariat, Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Abdelkader Taleb Omar, who heads the delegation, had earlier, on Monday, been received by the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, as a special envoy of President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott.
