Shaheed El-Hafed, June 7, 2026 (SPS) – The Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, is expected to arrive this Sunday evening at the Sahrawi refugee camps as part of his regional tour.
During his visit to the Sahrawi side, the UN envoy will hold talks with the national leadership, in addition to meetings with members of the Advisory Council and representatives of Sahrawi women’s, youth, and human rights organizations.
It is worth noting that, during its most recent ordinary session, the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front reaffirmed the Sahrawi side’s sincere commitment to ensuring the success of ongoing efforts. It stressed that any just and lasting solution must be based on clear foundations, namely guaranteeing the Sahrawi people’s inalienable, non-negotiable, and non-delegable right to self-determination and independence through a free, transparent, and democratic process in accordance with relevant United Nations General Assembly resolutions.
The National Secretariat also reiterated the Sahrawi people’s categorical rejection of any pseudo-solutions, regardless of their source, that seek to legitimize the Moroccan occupation and circumvent their legitimate national aspirations for freedom, independence, and the completion of sovereignty over their entire national territory.
