Algiers, May 19, 2026 (SPS) – The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic is participating in the activities of the 25th edition of the International Tourism and Travel Fair, organized at the Palais des Expositions in Algiers, with the participation of 41 countries.
The official opening ceremony of this international event was presided over by Ms. Houria Meddahi, Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, in the presence of several members of the Algerian government and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Algeria.
During its inspection tour, the ministerial delegation stopped at the pavilion of the Sahrawi Republic, where the Central Director of Handicrafts, Ibrahim Salem Ahmed Lakhalifa, gave explanations about the Sahrawi participation, highlighting that despite the conditions of exile and refuge, the Sahrawi state is making considerable efforts to develop this sector and give it the importance it deserves.
For his part, Ambassador and member of the National Secretariat, Khatri Addouh, stressed in statements to the press the importance and role of Sahrawi culture, explaining that the Moroccan occupation is pursuing policies targeting Sahrawi culture and identity, especially in the occupied part of Western Sahara.
