Helsinki (Finland), May 17, 2026 (SPS) – The Representation of the Polisario Front in Finland participated in the activities of the 2026 World Village Festival, hosted in the Finnish capital, Helsinki, on May 15 and 17.
The event provided an opportunity for the Polisario Front Representation to promote Sahrawi culture and shed light on the issue of Western Sahara, while reaffirming the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination and independence, in accordance with United Nations and African Union resolutions.
The Polisario Front’s representative in Finland, Mbarka Hammoudi, highlighted the situation of the media blockade imposed on the occupied Sahrawi territories and the human rights violations suffered by Sahrawi civilians. She also called for the release of Sahrawi political prisoners, especially the prisoners of the Gdeim Izik group.
