Kampala (Uganda), May 12, 2026 (SPS) – The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, participated on Tuesday in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, in the inauguration ceremony of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, who took the constitutional oath of office during a major official ceremony attended by several heads of state, government officials, and foreign delegations.
Upon his arrival at the official platform, President Brahim Ghali received a special welcome and handshake from President Yoweri Museveni in an atmosphere marked by official hospitality and well-organized proceedings.
During the ceremony, the Ugandan president took the constitutional oath, signaling the beginning of a new term in office, before delivering a lengthy speech in which he reviewed the various stages of economic growth and developmental transformations witnessed by Uganda during his previous years in power. He reaffirmed his government’s and the ruling party’s commitment to continuing efforts toward economic development, strengthening stability, and advancing African continental integration.
On the sidelines of his participation in the inauguration ceremony, President Brahim Ghali and the accompanying delegation held fruitful consultations and meetings with several officials and participating delegations, discussing issues of common interest and ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination relations.
The Sahrawi Republic and the Republic of Uganda maintain strong and distinguished bilateral relations, and the two countries share similar positions on many African and international issues, particularly regarding support for peace and stability and the promotion of cooperation and integration within the African continent.
