Minister of Public Health receives Head of Africa CDC North Africa Regional Office

Shaheed El Hafed, May 04, 2026 (SPS) – Member of the National Secretariat, Minister of Public Health, Salek Ada Ibrahim Ahmeem, received Sunday a delegation from the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), led by Dr. Wessam Mankoula, Regional Director for the North Africa Office.

The meeting was attended by the Sahrawi Ambassador to Ethiopia, Permanent Representative to the African Union, Lamine Baali, along with several central directors from the Ministry. The purpose of the visit was to oversee the official handover of the Central Vaccine Cold Chain Storage Room. This project is supervised by the Africa CDC and implemented by the World Food Programme (WFP) and UNICEF.

The completion of this project is part of the second phase of the Saving Lives and Livelihoods (SLL) program. This initiative was launched by the Africa CDC in early 2023, with funding from the American Mastercard Foundation, to strengthen the capacities of African Union member states in managing and combating diseases.
