Smara Wilaya, April 22, 2026 (SPS) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Yeslem Beissat, met with international women’s delegations participating in the 10th Congress of the National Union of Sahrawi Women (NUSW), in the presence of the NUSW’s Secretary-General, Ms. Shaba Seini.

At the outset of the meeting, the minister congratulated NUSW on the success of its 10th congress, highlighting the particular nature of the current phase, marked by challenges and attempts by the Moroccan occupation to undermine the inalienable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.

The minister stated that the Moroccan side had tried by all means to eliminate the Sahrawi people and their cause, but all such attempts had failed.

He emphasized that the Sahrawi people remain committed to their struggle and resistance until achieving freedom and independence.

He also pointed to the prominent position held by the Sahrawi state in Africa as a founding member of the African Union, as well as the support it enjoys, reinforced by the positions of allies and friends of the Sahrawi people and by the legal status of the issue as a decolonization question, affirmed by United Nations and UN Security Council resolutions.
